HopeCircle/Lily Oncology
on Canvas Art Exhibit

Where:  NEACCF HopeCircle, 311 E. Matthews, 1st floor & mezzanine

When:  May 25-June 7, M-F, 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Sunday, June 7, 1-3 p.m.

The NEA Clinic Charitable Foundation’s HopeCircle has partnered with Lilly,USA to present an exhibit of art from the biennial art competition, “Oncology on Canvas”.  The traveling exhibition of art is touring throughout the country and will be in Jonesboro at HopeCircle, 311 E. Matthews from May 25-June 7, Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.   It will be a highlight of a Cancer Survivor’s Day celebration on June 7, from 1-3 p.m. at 311 E. Matthews.

Launched in 2004 the competition invites people from the U.S. and Puerto Rico diagnosed with any type of cancer, as well as their families, friends, caregivers and healthcare providers to express, through art and narrative, the life-affirming changes that give the cancer journey meaning.  A local artist, Brenda Wiseman, had a painting selected for the 2004 exhibit and that painting is on display also.

The winners of the 2008 competition were chosen from nearly 600 entries that ranged from expressing joy, to fear, to support of family and friends, to the memory of those lost, or the perseverance of those who survive.  The titles and subjects vary, but all of the pieces demonstrate the role creativity plays in healing, coping and surviving.

Lilly Oncology on Canvas is presented by Lilly USA, LLC, a world leader in cancer research and treatment, in partnership with the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (NCCS), the oldest survivor-led cancer advocacy organization in the U.S.  The local exhibit is made possible by the participation of HopeCircle and the NEA Clinic Charitable Foundation.
