Volunteer Opportunities

Wellness Works aims to educate, motivate and support diabetic, cancer and cardiac patients to improve their quality of life through nutrition, education, and exercise. This program is offered FREE to the community and is funded by the NEA Clinic Charitable Foundation.

Wellness Works Health Support Programs will include Diabetic Management, Cancer Well Fit, and Cardiac - Heart Health. Each module will last 12 weeks and will incorporate both education and exercise to achieve a variety of health goals. The program is overseen and administered by medical professionals as well as health and fitness providers. The program will coach and educate patients on the role of exercise and nutrition in their disease treatment and management process. Wellness Works will give patients the best possible edge in treating and managing their health conditions.

Education classes are led by health professionals in each specific field, and include nutrition education, handout materials and guest speakers. Exercise components include aerobic training, strength and endurance training, and flexibility. Patients will use the NEA Clinic Wellness Center and exercise at their own pace. Using exercise in addition to required medicines, the Wellness Works program aims to improve strength and endurance, reduce body fat, decrease risk of cardiovascular disease, and reduce stress.

Centered around the clean, state-of-the-art facilities at the NEA Clinic Wellness Center, participants who desire to improve their health are sure to benefit from these programs. In addition, all participants who successfully complete the program will be offered a discounted membership to the Wellness Center, as well as other great rewards.

Anyone interested in this program may call 932-1898 or visit the NEA Clinic Wellness Center at 2617 Phillips Dr., Jonesboro. They should also ask their physician to learn about the program, as a physician referral is required for participation.
